LAS WEEKLY TRI-PARTITE PERFORMANCE REPORT
21 October 2016 - PowerPoint Presentation ... 33 pages The Overview:
|
- Demand on LAS services remains high, with CAT A seeing a prominent increase in the last week. There are plans in place to address the increase in activity
- This reduction in the use of PAS and VAS has continued, due to Patient Facing Vehicle hours becoming substantive
- There has been a reduction in sickness levels, they have fallen by 6.9% from 7.1% the previous week;
- NETS - non emergency transport service (for people requiring an acute mental health assessment) activity shows continued improvement
LAS WEEKLY TRI-PARTITE PERFORMANCE REPORT
26 September - 02 October 2016 - PowerPoint Presentation ... 23 pagesOverview: Cat A performance was at 63.5% for the week ending 02 October. This was 3.7% below plan. YTD performance is currently being achieved against plan. |
Key issues affecting performance:
- Continued pressure through high volume of activity (incidents currently 6.8% above plan with a 7.7% increase in Cat A incidents alone).
- Extra capacity is in place and around 5% above plan, however JCT is seeing continued challenge due to the gap being experienced between capacity and demand.
- CCGs responding by submitting local plans to address key areas of focus.

AMBULANCE CREWS TO TREAT 1,000 PATIENTS IN MAJOR INCIDENT EXERCISE
London Ambulance Service will treat over 1,000 casualties during Europe’s largest disaster training exercise that began yesterday in the London (Monday 29 February).
Hundreds of actors - each with a different story - will help make the scenario as realistic as possible and test the clinical skills of the ambulance crews responding to a building collapsing onto a tube train. Crew on the ground will encounter realistic scenarios that will reflect the graphic nature of this type of major incident.

LAS SURGE PURPLE - MESSAGE TO GPs AND URGENT CARE CENTRES (UCC)
GPs and UCC: LAS is saw a high levels of demand on Feb 29th with several hours of over 300 calls per hour. A high volume of these calls were 'Health Care Professionals' referrals. LAS clinically prioritised these requests but urged that anyone who can safely make their own way to hospital should do so.

MESSAGE: LAS EXPERIENCING EXTREME PRESSURES
From the LAS Commissioning Team - 02 February 2016
So far this week, LAS has experienced an unprecedented increase in the number of incidents – a significant number calls from Health Care Professionals (HCP) and residential care/ nursing homes account for these.
Please ensure that:
- All HCP transport requests, aside from the most extreme medical emergencies (e.g. cardiac arrest), should be made clinician to
clinician using the dedicated ‘Doc Line’ number, whereby the HCP speaks to an ambulance clinician to agree the most
appropriate form of transport.
- All residential care facilities should be supported to use 111 as their first option for urgent care needs, reserving 999 for cardiac
arrest in patients deemed suitable for resuscitation.
