NHS RACE EQUALITY IMPROVING, BUT 'HARD WORK STILL AHEAD'

NHS England’s Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) shows that the number of senior staff within the health service from a black and minority ethnic (BME) background has continued to improve but is still short of full representation.

Most people are still getting good care - but health and care system is 'straining at the seams', making future quality precarious.
This year's State of Care shows that, thanks to the efforts of staff and leaders, the quality of health and social care has been maintained despite very real challenges and the majority of people are getting good, safe care. But future quality is precarious as the system struggles with complex new types of demand, access and cost.

THOUSANDS OF AMBULANCE PATIENTS SUFFER A&E DELAYS DUE TO LACK OF BEDS
www.standard.co.uk Thousands of patients brought to hospital by ambulance are suffering delays getting into A&E because of a shortage of staff and beds. Some are spending in excess of two hours on trolleys in corridors or waiting areas, despite a 15-minute NHS target for them to be handed over. It also means London Ambulance Service crews, who wait alongside the patient, cannot respond to the next 999 call. |

We currently have three places on our Executive Committee, but if you are a member and wish to play a more active part in the work of the Forum, it would be possible to expand the size of the Executive Committee, so please let me know if you are interested.
Members also sit on a number of Committees and we may have access to more in the future. This is a very good way of influencing the work of the LAS. Let me know if you are interested and we can discuss the work load and training that will be required.

GETTING DRUNK IS NOT A GAME, says London Ambulance Service’s festive campaign
London Ambulance Service today (9 December) launches a hard-hitting alcohol awareness campaign highlighting the impact of alcohol-related calls on the capital’s other ill and injured patients.
The social media campaign illustrates how people who have drunk so much they are collapsed and unconscious can ‘top’ other patients as paramedics rush to treat them leaving others to wait longer.*
